Terms of Service
BillTinder (billtinder.com) is run by Allmyfellows LLC ("BillTinder", "we", "us"). By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use BillTinder.
1. What BillTinder is
BillTinder lets people post their personal bills and lets supporters choose to help pay them. We are not a bank, lender, charity or money transmitter, and we are not a party to any agreement between a bill poster and their lender.
2. Payments are voluntary personal gifts
- Every payment is a voluntary personal gift. You get nothing in return.
- Gifts are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible.
- We do not guarantee how, when or whether a gift is applied to a bill. Posted payment confirmations are provided by bill posters for transparency only.
- Gifts are generally non-refundable, except as described in section 5b, where required by law, or by our payment processor's rules.
3. Payments are processed by Stripe
Card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch BillTinder. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to your payment.
4. Your account
You must be at least 18 and give a real email address. Keep your password safe; you're responsible for activity on your account.
5. Rules for posting bills
- Bills must be real, current and yours (or one you are responsible for). Amounts and details must be truthful.
- Every bill needs at least one proof image (an app screenshot or a photo of the mailed bill) showing the bill date.
- You must cover or black out all account numbers, card numbers, addresses, phone numbers, barcodes and anyone else's personal information before uploading.
- No fraud, impersonation, duplicate fundraising for an already-paid bill, harassment, hate, or illegal content.
- You give us permission to display the bill details and redacted image you submit on BillTinder.
5a. Poster verification and posting fee
To post a bill you must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. resident with a Social Security number. Before your first bill you must (1) verify your identity through Stripe Identity, which checks a government photo ID, a matching selfie and your ID number, and (2) upload a recent pay stub. Verification is done once per account; BillTinder covers its cost.
Posting a bill is free. If a bill is fully funded and its proof of payment is approved, a one-time $4.99 USD posting fee is deducted from the poster's payout for that bill when funds are released. The fee is never added to a donor's gift. No posting fee is charged on a bill that is refunded (not fully funded, or no proof). Bills that already paid the former upfront $4.99 fee are not charged again. BillTinder may waive the fee at its discretion. Since November 2026, the name on each bill must match the poster's verified ID name; bills that don't match automatically are reviewed by BillTinder before they go public.
Job-loss option. Instead of a pay stub, a poster may show they recently lost their job by uploading a termination or layoff letter, an unemployment claim or approval, or a final pay stub dated within the last 90 days, with the date of the job loss. Only BillTinder admins can see it. A BillTinder admin must approve it before that poster's bills are published. Stripe ID verification and the name-on-bill rule still apply. While using this option a poster may post one month of bills at a time: at most one active bill (not yet refunded or paid out) per category, each due within 30 days of posting, limited to rent/housing, car payment, car repair, insurance (auto, home, renters or health), electric, water, gas/heating, internet, phone or medical. Once a bill is paid out or refunded, that category can be posted again for the next month. Bills posted before November 2026 under the old "Utilities" category stay valid. Job-loss bills are labeled "Recently lost job". BillTinder does not confirm job loss with employers or state agencies.
5b. Paying community bills: fees, holding period and proof
- Payments to bills posted by other users are processed by Stripe and sent to the poster's Stripe account. To receive them, posters must set up payouts with Stripe.
- Every payment goes toward the bill in full. The only deduction from the poster is the one-time $4.99 posting fee described in section 5a, taken at release. BillTinder pays the card processing fees (about 2.9% + 30¢ per payment). At checkout, donors may choose to cover the processing fee (selected by default) and may add an optional tip to BillTinder of 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% or 5% (3% by default) or no tip. Fee cover and tips go to BillTinder, not the poster, and are shown as separate line items.
- Funds are held in the poster's Stripe balance and are not paid out right away. When a bill becomes fully funded, the poster has 48 hours to upload proof. A BillTinder admin reviews every proof before any money is released; while a proof is under review the funds stay held and the 48-hour deadline no longer applies. If BillTinder rejects the proof, every donor is refunded in full, including any fee cover and tip, and the poster is blocked from posting. The poster must upload proof that the bill was paid, or a scheduled-payment confirmation from the biller.
- Once a BillTinder admin approves the proof, the funds are released to the poster. BillTinder may hold or stop a release if the proof looks invalid.
- If no proof is uploaded within 48 hours, every donor is refunded in full, including any fee cover and tip, the poster's share is taken back from their Stripe balance, BillTinder absorbs Stripe's non-refundable processing fees, the bill is labeled "Refunded, no proof", and the poster is blocked from posting new bills.
- If a bill with payments is not fully funded by the end of its due date (Eastern Time), or 30 days after it was posted if it has no due date, every donor is refunded in full, including any fee cover and tip. The poster's share is taken back from their Stripe balance and BillTinder absorbs Stripe's non-refundable processing fees. The poster is not blocked.
- Bills are labeled publicly as "Proof uploaded", "Refunded, no proof" or "Refunded, not fully funded".
6. User-posted bills, reports and removal
Bills are posted by users and go live immediately, without review by BillTinder beforehand. BillTinder does not verify bills and is not responsible for what users post. Anyone can report a bill. We may remove any bill, and suspend or ban any account, at any time and for any reason, including suspected fraud or a breach of these terms.
7. No warranty
BillTinder is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We don't verify every claim a bill poster makes and can't promise the site will be error-free or always available.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Allmyfellows LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from gifts, bills posted by users, or use of the site. Our total liability for any claim is limited to $100 or the amount you paid through BillTinder in the past 12 months, whichever is less.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. If we make a big change we'll update the date above; continuing to use BillTinder means you accept the new terms.
